NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
But what does it mean to the Indigenous people of this land.It represents a chance for them to show you a taste of the real history and culture this land has always possessed. So please put aside some time this week to engage with some of the many events that might be going on,engage, participate, learn.
