“I am Emma Phillips, an emerging aboriginal artist, and animator concluding a Bachelor of
Fine Arts- Animation at the Queensland University of Technology. My aboriginal mob is
Wiradjuri, Wungunja Tribe, in New South Wales. The culture has been passed down through
my dad, Lionel Phillips artworks and paintings.

 Last year at the Queensland University of Technology, I directed a short, animated film,
The Goan Waterhole. An aboriginal Dreamtime story passed down from my elder and father,
Lionel Phillips, of the Wiradjuri Wungunja mob, with also connects to the aboriginal land
councillor in Trangie.
In the past, I have worked for Jabiru Boomerangs, the company, packing orders, cleaning the
warehouse, and doing some artwork on boomerangs. 
I also have some aboriginal network connections on the Gold Coast and Brisbane and with
the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Team in Screen Queensland.  
Qualification I completed; Diploma in Screen and Media- Interactive Media in 2019. 
Projects I worked in:
 2019 (Worked with Tafe Screen & Media Team to produce Gilmore Space Technologies
Logo Animation Project) My role was an Animator and Assistance Project Manager & Time
Management and Manager.
2021 (worked on the student project “Drop In The Night at Queensland of Technologies.
Texture artist & 3D animator was my role).
2021 -2022 (The Director of; The Goan Waterhole; at Queensland of Technologies. I was
directing creative as The Goan Waterhole is a cultural Dreamtime story that was passed
down. I was a concept artist of one of the characters & some props, with also a storyboard
artist & 3D animator towards the end of the project).
In the future, I want to create stories that put a smile on children’s faces through artwork and animation.
